Privacy policy
Last updated 10 October 2026
Someday is a place to keep the moments that matter and leave letters for your future self. It was made to be private: what you keep stays on your phone, and we never see it.
The short version
- No account — You never sign up or sign in.
- Nothing collected — Someday has no servers of its own. It doesn’t send what you keep, or anything about you, to us or to anyone.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking — There are none in the app.
- Yours to move — What you keep leaves your phone only when you make a backup or a copy yourself.
What you keep, and where it lives
Your moments (photos, videos, voice recordings and words), your letters for Someday, and your settings — the look, the language, and your birthday if you choose to give it — are stored in Someday’s private space on your phone. Other apps can’t read them, and they are protected by your phone’s own encryption and screen lock.
A sealed letter stays out of sight in the app until the day it opens. If you turn on Someday’s lock, Someday asks for your face, fingerprint or phone passcode before showing anything.
What Someday asks to use
Someday asks for each permission only when you first need it, and you can turn any of them off in your phone’s settings.
- Camera — to take a photo or video of a moment.
- Microphone — to record a voice, or the sound of a video.
- Photos — to keep a picture you already took. Someday sees only the ones you pick.
- Notifications — to tell you when a letter is ready to open and, only if you turn it on, to let a moment from an earlier year find you now and then. They are scheduled on your phone, nothing is sent from a server, and a notification never shows the words you kept.
- Face ID, fingerprint or passcode — to open Someday when its lock is on. Your phone does the checking; Someday never receives your face, fingerprint or passcode.
Backups and copies
Because everything lives on your phone, deleting Someday or losing your phone loses what you’ve kept — unless you’ve made a backup. Someday gives you two ways to take your moments with you, and only when you ask:
- Locked backup — one file of everything, sealed letters included, encrypted on your phone before it is saved (XChaCha20-Poly1305). It opens only with your 24-word recovery key. The key is kept in your phone’s secure storage; we never have it, so we can’t open your backup or recover a lost key.
- Take a copy — a readable folder of your photos, videos, voices and words, to keep or look through without the app. It is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere you trust. Letters still sealed are left out: the copy says only that one is waiting, and when it opens.
You choose where these files go. If you save one to a cloud service such as Google Drive or iCloud Drive, that service’s own privacy policy applies to the file; a locked backup stays unreadable there without your key.
Your phone’s own backups
On Android, Someday is left out of Google’s automatic app backup, so a locked backup is the only way your moments leave the phone. On iPhone, a backup of the whole phone to iCloud or a computer may include Someday’s data; that backup is made and kept by Apple, under Apple’s privacy policy.
What we share
Nothing. We don’t receive your data, so there is nothing to share, sell or hand over.
Google Play and the App Store may give app makers anonymous crash and usage statistics, depending on your phone’s settings and their own policies. Someday adds no tracking of its own.
Deleting
You can delete any moment, or let go of any letter you’ve read; it is removed from your phone for good the next time Someday opens. Deleting the app removes everything Someday kept on the phone. Backups and copies you saved elsewhere stay where you put them until you delete them.
Children
Someday is not meant for children under 13. It collects no information from anyone, children included.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR give you the right to see, correct and delete your personal data. With Someday, all of it is on your phone and in your hands: you can see, change and delete everything in the app. We hold nothing about you, so there is nothing for us to hand over or erase — but you are always welcome to ask.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date above. If Someday ever begins to send anything off your phone — an optional cloud backup, for example — we’ll say so plainly in the app and ask you first.
